About the Studio
Founded by a small group of photographers who met while working on independent documentary projects, Lumen & Ash grew out of a shared frustration with overly staged, artificial imagery. We wanted to create a space where photography felt less like a performance and more like a conversation. Our studio sits in a converted warehouse with large north-facing windows, chosen specifically for the soft, consistent daylight they offer throughout the year. We work with minimal equipment and an emphasis on patience — letting moments unfold rather than forcing them. Every session begins with a conversation, not a camera, because we believe trust is the first ingredient of a good photograph.
